Inclusive Design

First of all, my interactive learning resources are very simple basic theories, which are very easy to understand. At the same time, from the perspective of economics, these simple theories are also especially useful. After mastering these basic knowledges, you will not feel that this part of the knowledge is missing or insufficient in the subsequent study. My interactive learning resources are originally on the Internet, and there is no need to conduct face-to-face lectures. If necessary, you can use video teaching methods. The impact on the activities in the learning resources is also exceedingly small, because the activities are all tests, the test can be done on the network. The only disadvantage may be that there is no way to ensure that students must remember the knowledge that needs to be memorized, because students who take exams on the Internet cannot avoid taking notes. The obstacles for students may be computer equipment and jet lag.

It is difficult for me to help them with computer equipment. But the time difference problem can be solved by recording video. Record the instructional video in advance, and students can view it online at any time. At the same time, choose some unrestricted websites to place learning materials. Because some countries have blocked some websites. Consider the current pandemic situation. Now the entire interactive learning resources are carried out on the Internet, and the exam can also be carried out on the Internet. If there are students who cannot use the website to study, then I can also send them the courseware by email. The courseware of this course It can also be made into a PDF file, and you can learn without watching the video. For the exam, you can email them the exam questions, and then the students will email me their answers.

[PROMPT] Interaction

When I input the learning resources I want to design, which is the rational consumption of consumers, lots of the videos appeared, and I don’t even need to choose one of them because they are all very similar. They all use direct-instruction. These videos can be said to force students to remember the knowledge in the video. Although there are no tests and exams in the video. But if you are not familiar with the content contained in the video, then you may not understand the following advanced instructional video on this topic. As a student, I think most students will choose to take notes to help them remember the knowledge they need to master. Taking notes can help us remember knowledge very effectively, so it is highly effective for direct-instruction teaching methods. For the activities after watching the video, I think about the learning resources I want to design, go to the Internet to find exercises. They can use some learning web pages to do exercises, like learning web pages like quizlet. If you let me design an activity, I think it is very necessary to design the exam. Although it is very boring, it can help students understand related theories and calculations. And the feedback that students get is exactly accurate, that is their exam results. If it is normal, paper-based face-to-face exams are quite common. If you consider the current epidemic, then open-book exams on the Internet are also acceptable. After the exam, you can open a network-taught test paper that must be resolved, which is the final term Prepare for the exam. Setting up an exam is relatively simple but time-consuming for me. The exams on the Internet can be corrected directly by the computer, but face-to-face exams require me to correct them, and then there will be statistical scores, although it is not difficult but It is a waste of time.

Welcome and Introduction

Before proceeding with this first blog post, we expect you to consider your privacy preferences carefully and that you have considered the following options:

  1. Do you want to be online vs. offline?
  2. Do you want to use your name (or part thereof) vs. a pseudonym (e.g., West Coast Teacher)?
  3. Do you want to have your blog public vs. private? (Note, you can set individual blog posts private or password protected or have an entire blog set to private)
  4. Have you considered whether you are posting within or outside of Canada? This blog on opened.ca is hosted within Canada. That said, any public blog posts can have its content aggregated/curated onto social networks outside of Canada.

First tasks you might explore with your new blog:

  • Go into its admin panel found by adding /wp-admin at the end of your blog’s URL
  • Add new category or tags to organize your blog posts – found under “Posts” (but do not remove the pre-existing “edci335” category).
  • See if your blog posts are appearing on the course website (you must have the the edci335 category assigned to a post first and have provided your instructor with your blog URL)
  • Add pages, if you like.
  • Include hyperlinks in your posts (select text and click on the link icon in the post toolbar)
  • Embed images or set featured images and embed video in blog posts and pages (can be your own media or that found on the internet, but consider free or creative commons licensed works). To embed a YouTube video, simply paste the URL on its own line.
  • Under Dashboard/Appearance,
    • Select your preferred website theme and customize to your preferences (New title, new header image, etc.)
    • Customize menus & navigation
    • Use widgets to customize blog content and features
  • Delete this starter post (or switch it to draft status if you want to keep it for reference)

Do consider creating categories for each course that you take should you wish to document your learning (or from professional learning activities outside of formal courses). Keep note, however, that you may wish to rename the label of the course category in menus (e.g., as we did where it shows “Learning Design” as the label for the “edci335” category menu.  This will enable readers not familiar with university course numbers to understand what to expect in the contents.

Lastly, as always, be aware of the FIPPA as it relates to privacy and share only those names/images that you have consent to use or are otherwise public figures. When in doubt, ask us.
